In many ways, working from home can be good for your health and wellbeing.
You don’t have the stress of the daily commute to worry about. You can escape the trials and tribulations of a toxic office environment. And unlike those professions that are rife with health and safety risks, such as any within the construction industry, you don’t have to worry about any potential hazards. Well, other than stubbing your finger on the occasional drawing pin, of course!
However, while working from home does have its advantages as far as your health and wellbeing is concerned, it can have its downsides, so self-care is paramount.

#1: Include breaks in your schedule
You will likely be very busy during the day, and without a boss or co-worker telling you to take a break, you might decide to keep working for as long as is possible. You need to be careful, however, as, without a break, you might become tired, overly stressed, and at the extreme end of the scale, you might hit burnout. So, when planning your day’s schedule, include a few breaks in there. A little rest will do you good, and you should find that your productivity will improve after taking time out for your personal needs.
#2: Don’t work overtime
It can be easy to stay in work mode, especially when your computer and other work-related equipment are close by, but this won’t help your stress levels any. Have a shut-off time each day, as you do need to take time out to rest and relax after work. Do the things you enjoy, and socialise a little if you need some social company after a busy day. These productivity tips will help you get work done on time, so you shouldn’t have to work longer than you have to.
#3: Eat something nutritious for lunch
When you are in work mode, it can be easy to skip out on a healthy lunch. You might choose to grab something less than nutritious instead, such as a microwavable burger or a bag of crisps. While these items are quick and convenient, they won’t do much for your energy levels, and they won’t do a lot for your overall health either. So, when you’re scheduling in your breaks for the day, ensure you add in time for your lunch. These healthy lunch ideas might be useful to you, so choose these over any unhealthy options.
#4: Make time for exercise
If you’re forever rooted in your office chair, you might succumb to the health risks associated with a sedentary lifestyle. Needless to say, you do need to make an effort to move around, so get off your chair once in a while, and take some exercise.
